Constant Fear
Well, have you ever felt fear? It is a singular emotion that can make the most beautiful opportunity look like a dangerous road to tread. It is my most undesirable companion in times of... well, all the time!! I recently read about how fear is the basic emotion that people have and that most of us make decisions based on this very factor. Well, why?? Let's face it, we hardly know anything about the things around us, above, below, within.. in fact about anything!! When you do not know about something, fear is but natural.
I have seen many people insecure about the fact that they know so little and they go devouring information about everything they can get their hands on. I, in fact, know that that is not the solution. It is not in saying "I'm not afraid" that I think the courage is. It is in knowing and accepting (if only to yourself) that you "do not know". Every moment, as the truth dawns on you, the uneasiness of it all mounts. And that is when a way will open up, the opportunity to know. But to acknowledge the fact and to say "I don't know" is probably something they don't teach you in school (or the university). Hmmm, grim fact. I guess there are many things you learn from your own life experience (and others' ) than from any of the degrees on offer.
Fear is not of the weak but the ignorant. And when that truth dawns on you, my friend, ignorance is not bliss but a curse.
